Dialog and Airtel sign agreement to Combine operations in Sri Lanka.

Dialog Axiata Plc (“Dialog”), Axiata Group Berhad (“Axiata”) and Bharti Airtel Limited (“Airtel”) have decided to merge their operations and transfer the shares held by Airtel to Dialog. Accordingly, the new company shares will be presented as a new issue and the respective amounts from the total shares will be divided between the two parties. Dialog is currently the largest network with over 17 million subscribers and Airtel is the fastest and cheapest telecom service provider in the country with over 2.7 million subscribers.

In the same way, in 2016, Axiata and Airtel merged and operated under the Robi brand in Bangladesh. This is not a purchase of Airtel by Dialog, but an agreement for both parties to work together, but this will technically affect the future of both companies.
